However, performance can vary depending on the particular tile and adhesive combination, substrate type, installation method, and project conditions. Concrete tiles, including Saxony® 900 Slate, are manufactured with nail holes because mechanical fastening (using screws or nails) is a traditional and widely accepted attachment method. However, depending on your project’s location, roof design, wind requirements, and local building codes, tiles may also be installed using approved foam adhesive systems or a hybrid of mechanical fasteners and adhesives. It is important to understand that mechanical fastening may still be required in certain regions or under specific project conditions—especially where adhesive attachment is not permitted or approved by local codes or product approvals. Unlike asphalt shingles, which are susceptible to cracking and impact damage, or standing seam metal roofs that may require repairs after impacts, Newpoint’s durability reduces claim risks, making it a financially savvy choice for homeowners seeking to lower insurance costs.

The Saxony® 900 Slate tile is designed to increase foam adhesive contact, which may offer installation efficiency, wind resistance, and optimized foam use. However, these performance advantages—including improved uplift resistance—have only been formally tested in combination with Polyset® AH-160 two-part roof tile adhesive, as documented in applicable product approvals for Miami Dade NOA. At this time, there is no testing or data to support that these benefits extend to other approved adhesives or installation methods.

For installations using adhesives other than Polyset® AH-160 or installations outside of the Miami Dade NOA jurisdiction. always refer to the governing product approvals, code requirements, and installation instructions for your specific project. The tile’s design increases adhesive contact, which can improve uplift resistance compared to other low‑profile tiles. However, formal testing has only been completed using Polyset® AH‑160 two‑part roof tile adhesive. Other approved adhesives are currently rated the same as standard roof tiles until additional testing is completed.

Before hurricane season, inspect your roof for loose or damaged shingles, secure any weak spots, clear gutters and downspouts, and ensure flashing is intact to minimize wind and water damage.
