Relying on a Trusted Roofing Contractor

When hail up to 4 inches in size came down on Karen and Tom Smith’s house it caused extensive damage. The large tree limb that crushed part of their roof and deck didn’t help either. Afterward, it was confirmed that there was a tornado involved. Along with their roof and deck, there was damage to their deck railing, garage door and mailbox.

In the immediate aftermath, the Smiths reached out to their roofer, Nick Piontek with On Point Contracting. That one decision instantly made their lives easier.

“We hired Nick to add snow guards to our roof a few years back,” says Karen Smith, a resident of Littleton, Colorado. “Nick and his team were thorough and careful about our multiple roof lines. We felt so comfortable with their capabilities that we contacted them for their assistance in handling our storm damage.”

Recommending DaVinci Select Shake

Relationships are everything to the On Point Contracting team. That’s why Piontek didn’t hesitate to assist the Smiths in working with their insurance company. He helped them gain a full roof replacement under their policy.

For the new roof, Piontek recommended a DaVinci Select Shake impact-resistant roof in a Mountain color. The roof has the same appearance as their previous roof. However, the composite roof upgrade combined with the EcoChief Solarhide underlayment installed by the contractor now qualifies as a Class A fire rated roof.

“DaVinci roofs can withstand winds up to 180 mph and have an impact rating of a Class 4,” says Piontek. “The roof previously on the Smith’s home had a leak along the step flashing. That’s where the garage wall meets the front door roof overhang. This was due to installer error.

“When we replaced the roof, we corrected it. By installing an ice and water barrier behind the siding, across the joint, and under the new roof, along with the proper step flashing, we fixed it. Now they know their DaVinci Select Shake roof is properly installed and they won’t have the same problems again.”

DaVinci Select Shake tiles imitate authentic cedar shake better than any product on the market. Backed by a Lifetime Limited Material Warranty, DaVinci Select Shake tiles are available in 8” and 10” widths. The 10” widths having a simulated keyway to give the look of 4” and 6” shakes to create a multi-width appearance. And, as with all DaVinci products, DaVinci Select Shake tiles resist fading, rotting, cracking and pests.

Essential Snow Retention Systems

With erratic snowfall in the area where the Smiths live, there’s a necessity for snow retention on their shake composite roof upgrade.

“We got to know On Point Contracting back in 2021,” says Smith. “That’s when they came out to retrofit snow guards onto our roof. This time we made sure to have the snow guards added during the new roof installation. They’ve worked out great. We’re so happy we will not be injured from sliding snow. And, that our pets are safe and our landscaping will not be damaged by avalanching snowfall after storms.”

On the Smith’s home, Piontek and his team installed RG16 snow guards in a Dark Bronze from Rocky Mountain Snow Guards. Positioned to hold back snow all around the home to allow for slow melting, the snow guards accent the roof’s Mountain color.

“As always, we followed the suggested plans provided by Rocky Mountain Snow Guards for both the snow retention product and layout,” says Piontek. “All the fasteners are completely concealed. And, everyone is thrilled with the RG16s on the new roof.”

While no one wants to go through a full roof replacement due to severe weather, the Smiths believe their experience was made easier based on the top-quality products they selected plus the On Point Contracting team. “Nick is great and his team is amazing,” says Smith. “They communicated continuously, were honest about timelines, and their dedication is unlike any other contractor we have worked with. We highly recommend them.

“Most importantly, our DaVinci roof looks terrific and is very durable. We’re moving forward with confidence!”
